I'm very new to phpbb and I am struggling to figure out how to set permissions correctly, I will have several forums all with subforums but i'll use two as an example.
So to start when new users register they need to have access to a welcome forum, in this forum I only want them to post only text and smilies nothing else, Once they have posted once they will be moved to a group (hopefully by automated means and I have autogroups installed and have created a group called Producers) But if automation not possible is there a custom way to keep them there for example on group change?
So the two forums I have are Stations & Producers both will have subforums, BUT, I want producers to belong to the group producers which can ONLY post in the producers forums & subforums, However, I want Stations to be able to post in any forum. How can i set the correct permissions for this
So how can I get the users once signed up into the correct group? I thought about an extra drop down and they choose at registration, which my understanding is just that and would not offer automation and I would Manually move a user to the correct group based on that selection.( also see my observations about autogroups, would that work?)
