Then all I needed was https://wiki.phpbb.com/Add_users to add user to database and then call link_account() after the user was added.

I know this is an ancient post - but, the phpBB Wiki was deprecated last year. The reference above now takes you here, and although it points you to where you can find documentation, I've had little luck in finding "Add_users". Can someone lead me in the right direction?
