AFAIR the lock option (for the topic) can be used to close a poll, but that effectively locks the topic itself which isn't necessarily wanted.
I know 1 other forum software allowing to set a time limit on voting without locking the topic.
If your idea implies limiting voting time but not automatically locking the topic (thus allowing comments even when the voting time has expired) then it's a +1 from me. (so I'm holding back the decisive vote![;-)]( "Wink")
